History

Joe and Lynn Wilkey founded World Compassion Network in January of 2002 to mobilize and assist the local church in responding to the needs of disaster victims and the poor, demonstrating the grace and mercy of God to a suffering world. Their first project was in Afghanistan.

Through their experiences over the past several years, they have come to understand that those who suffer as a result of poverty, natural disaster and war are in need of God’s love more than ever. God’s own character is one of compassion. Wherever there is human suffering, God is already there in the midst of the trouble waiting for you and I to join Him in bringing relief and love. One result of showing compassion has been thousands of victims of disaster and poverty coming to know Christ.

Joe is an ordained minister with 30 years experience in international relief and development. He has traveled to more than 140 countries and has worked in 19 war zones. He was the International Director of Distribution and Development for a major Christian humanitarian organization for almost 10 years.

Lynn has supported Joe in his ministry and has traveled to some of the countries to help in the distributions.  Joe and Lynn have been married for 50 years and have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren.
