Founded WCN in 2001
Joe E. Wilkey is the Founder & Executive Director of World Compassion Network (WCN). Joe has a storied career in compassion ministry. He is a former Marine, printer, stock broker, pastor, and relief worker. After more than 15 years as a volunteer and a full time relief worker, Joe responded to God’s call on his life and founded WCN in January of 2002. Joe was convinced there was a need for a faith based relief organization that focused on the local church. He believes the local church should take the lead in providing relief for victims, and give the aid to the local church in the disaster area for distribution. He works tirelessly to see that the church reaches out to the suffering and poor to give credibility and the opportunity to share the Gospel. Joe has traveled to 140 countries, worked in 19 war zones, preached in hundreds of churches, and has seen thousands give their lives to Christ. God has honored Joe’s faith many times over through financial support, great staffing, volunteers, relief equipment and the confirmation that compassion plays a huge role in delivering the Gospel. Joe says "Staying focused on the vision and mission God gave me has been the key to the success and growth of WCN. It has been clear from the beginning that God wanted me to tell the compassion story and He would provide the resources. God has used WCN as a faith builder for hundreds of people. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the importance of my wife Lynn in supporting me in this ministry. She has demonstrated faith and strength beyond my measure by her personal sacrifices through the years."
Joe and Lynn currently live in Warsaw Indiana. Their three married children and 7 grandchildren [two of which are married] live in the area. They enjoy watching their children and grandchildren grow in their faith and build their own families. Joe continues to tell the compassion story everywhere he goes. He is passing the baton of leadership to staff members and preparing them to carry on with the vision and mission of WCN.
