Who we are
Joe and Lynn Wilkey founded World Compassion Network in January of 2002 to mobilize and assist the local church in responding to the needs of disaster victims and the poor, demonstrating the grace and mercy of God to a suffering world. Their first project was in Afganistan.
Through their experiences over the past several years, they have come to understand that those who suffer as a result of poverty, natural disaster and war are in need of God's love more than ever. God's own character is one of compassion. Wherever there is human suffering, God is already there in the midst of the trouble waiting for you and I to join Him in bringing relief and love. One result of showing compassion has been thousands of victims of disaster and poverty coming to know Christ.
Joe is an ordained minister with 24 years experience in international relief and development. He has traveled to more than 138 countries and has worked in 18 war zones. He was the International Director of Distribution and Development for a major Christian humanitarian organization for almost 10 years.
Lynn Has supported Joe in his ministry and has traveled to some of the countries to help in the distributions.
Joe and Lynn have been married for 44 years and have 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren.
Our Mission
To help mobolize and assist the church in responding to the needs of victims of disasters and poverty.
What we do
- We respond to disasters both domestic and international through local churches and partnerships with other relief organizations.
- We develop disaster response teams forming Disaster Response Task Forces.
- We mobilize churches to respond to disasters and specific projects domestically and internationally.
- We assist with organizing and leading short-term development and missions projects using volunteers from local churches.
Our Statement of Faith
- We believe the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, were written by men divinely inspired by God through the Holy Spirit, without error, to be the final authority in faith and life. (Isaiah 40:8; II Peter 1:21; II Timothy 3:16-17).
- We believe that God is eternally existent, co-equal in three persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:28; Matthew 28:18; Luke 3:22; John 1:1).
- We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God, in His virgin birth and sinless life; that He is true God and true man; that He died as a redeeming substitute for our sins, was buried and bodily resurrected, and ascended to the right hand of the Father; and, in His personal return in power and glory. (Isaiah 7:14, 53:5; Matthew 1:23; John 1:14; Acts 2:29-36; Galations 3:13; Hebrews 4:15; Phillipians 2:6-11; I Thessalonians 4:16; I Timothy 2:5).
- We believe in the Holy Spirit as the third person of the Trinity, whose present ministry is convicting us of our sins; and, who indwells the Christian; comforting, teaching and empowering the Christian to lead a godly life. (Ezekial 36:27; Matthew 3:11, John 14:16-17, 16:8; Acts 1:8).
- We believe the man was created in the image of God to be in fellowship with God and to reconcile the earth to God. We believe man was tempted by Satan, fell under the influence of sin, became disobedient to God by choice and was helpless to restore himself, thus forsaking his divine mission in life. Man is the object of God's love in Jesus Christ, who came so that man could resume his divine mission in life. (Genesis 1:26-28; John 3:15-17; Romans 3:23, 5:12-21; I Corinthians 3:5-10, 16:8; Acts 1:8).
- We believe that salvation is only by grace, not by works, and is recieved by faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, thereby permitting us to be reconciled to God. (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:16; Romans 10:9-10, 13).
- We believe in the resurrection of the dead; the believer to life everlasting in Heaven and the unrepentant to the resurrection of judgement of everlasting punishment in Hell. (Matthew 6:20-21; Revelation 20:11-15, 21:8).
- We believe that Satan rebelled against God; became the author of sin; is at war with God for control of the earth; is the enemy of God and man and that he and his followers shall be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire.(Job 1:6; Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 22:31; Ephesians 6:11-12; Revelation 20:10).
